THE HARALSON VILLAGE STORY

Our Goal is to honor the way they lived & in the things they believed how we should all live

We always knew we wanted to do something to honor my Grandparents, Freeman and Nora Ruth Haralson. I was never sure what or how we wanted to do that. Because of bad influences and controlled circumstances, we were not able to properly honor them while they were alive; therefore, it is our goal to honor the way they lived & in the things they believed how we should all live.

FREEMAN & NORA RUTH

My Grandparents, Freeman and Nora Ruth Haralson, owned a full-service gas station in Hurst, Texas. I remember learning lifelong lessons with my grandfather & grandmother, as he was a man of few words but when he talked, you better be listening because he was going to tell you something you needed to know. As I said, he ran a full service 3 or 4 bay station at Pipeline and 820 in Hurst, Texas. My grandfather was one of the first automotive repair shops to have a computer diagnostics machine in Texas. Ms. Texas would do photo shoots at the service station at times.

QUALITY & SERVICE

I vividly remember after winning a blue ribbon at a H.E.B. District track meet twice at different times at Pennington field, I would run all the way down Pipeline rd. to his station to show him my blue ribbon I had won. He also had a truck that provided service calls and sideboards, he made for advertisements for his service station. His name represented Quality and Service.

THE SERVICE TRUCK

Some years later, we were able to acquire his truck and restored it to its once original state, including his side board marketing signs that he made for his service truck at the station long ago. His favorite nephew (Bobby Armstrong) had stored the side boards in one of Bobby’s barns at his ranch and dairy barn in Corsicana, close to where my grandfather is buried. He died at a young age of 56 because of tumors. He also served in the army during World War II and we have the flag they put on his casket. This was all during the 60s and 70s!

THE HARALSON VILLAGE STORY

Vision given isn’t always Easy

In 2008, we bought the land with the purpose to honor my Grandparents. At first, we thought we wanted to develop a subdivision with amenities including a park and a running creek and a river look with little streams of water running into the creek or river. However, it really didn’t make much sense for the logistics and it would result in a very high HOA fee to keep the creek and amenities up and running. This wasn’t really what we wanted. We were confused!

God’s Glory is a very Special Thing to even catch a Small Glimpse

The further I get down the road and time, the feeling of what I was able to be a small part of, is fading and I miss the feeling of whatever it was I was blessed to be a part of.

I cannot imagine being in the presence of God, he will change us completely after we have been through the Judgment Seat of Christ! All of our wood, hay and stubble will be burned up, but we ourselves shall be saved, yet so as by fire. We shall receive rewards too, if we have based the foundation of our lives on Jesus Christ! 1st Corinthians 3;10-15

Unfortunately, but graciously…

In 2014 I suffered a severe injury. I endured a 7 day; medically induced coma & my family was told that my injury was equivalent to falling off an 11-story building. The doctors said I may never be able to walk or talk again because of this severe brain injury. All physicians involved were indicating & expecting a several month-long process of reconstruction surgeries & rehabilitation. However, when I was brought out of the coma, I did not want to believe I couldn’t walk & talk ever again, & did not want to be in the hospital any longer. I simply wanted to recover at home. Reluctantly, I was released within 2 days against doctors and hospital advice.

Fortunately, and graciously…

After much prayer & good rehab at home, approximately 2 weeks from my discharge, I continued my morning routine of taking my book and bible to the hot tub to read, meditate and pray, a very good way to start the day. I was still undecided on what to do with the land, but remembered the original intention to honor my grandparents. Suddenly, I was struck with a vision from God! God sent a vision! He sent a complete vision of the layout and logistics. I then signaled for my precious wife, & I shared the vision & all the details. We felt very blessed as if God had sent blueprints on a beautiful vision and hand delivered them. Also, I have to share that this accident (injury) was a call from God because it enabled me to see in a different way & I am not sure, but I think it allowed me to catch a very small glimpse of God’s Glory!

The Vision, in total completeness,
was a
Large Event Center at the creek
with an
Amphitheater & Bell Tower

Bringing a Vision to Life

We then started talking to engineers, architects, and electric companies and realized there’s no way this was a fluke. Many meetings were had with city officials and professionals. Everyone told us our thinking was spot on and will work properly and effectively. The vision, in total completeness, was a large event center at the creek with an amphitheater and bell tower. On the other side of the creek would be an RV park to provide accommodations for large events.

Work Smarter Not Harder

Then as we progressed with working towards the vision, we realized we were not working in the proper order to be able to financially and logistically achieve the vision we were given. The vision was given in completeness. We couldn’t start at the creek to make the river; we had to backtrack and build it from the start. So, after realizing we were working in the wrong order, we had to start at the other side of the creek to start the RV park and amenity buildings.

Preparing for the Future

There were many acres of land that had to be cleared and all of this land required a 3% grade so there was much fill dirt needed at the RV portion of the park. Many preparations were needed to support all of the basics of forming and creating underground utilities such as water, sewer facility and electrical components that will be needed. And in 2018 we realized we must have a homebase; therefore, we constructed a barn for equipment needed for construction and a RV spot to provide a home for my wife and myself during this project.

Haralson Dump Truck

There have been many struggles and hurdles along the way. Rising costs, inflation and product availability have severely impacted our progress. After several setbacks, we decided to purchase our own dump truck to transport the materials needed. We have been making endless loads of limestone and river rock from Idabel and Broken Bow for almost 10 years.

Haralson Village is Open for Occupancy!

We can’t wait for you to stay with us at the Village!

The Future of Haralson Village

Alongside the many RV spaces, additional buildings will be constructed such as bathrooms facility, showers, & washer & dryer machines as well as a pavilion & reception building for events such as covenant weddings & other events!

Built For Stability

The buildings are out of the ground and plumbed but will not be completed until the R.V. park is up and running! All buildings will be reinforced with concrete and steel inside of the walls to provide protection to all from severe storms.

Safety & Privacy

We have constructed almost 500 ft of storm wall at the southwest corner of the park at a higher elevation than 90 percent of the park to help with storms and privacy. We are still under construction but the R.V. PARK
IS READY FOR OCCUPANCY!

A Huge Haralson ‘Thank You’

IN CONCLUSION

We have been working on this Project (Vison) for approximately 10 Years

It is finally starting to show signs for many people to call home and a fun place to be. In addition, a very significant part of this Vision is to have the Word of God Represented, and His Word studied and preached weekly at Haralson Village. It’s important for the proceeds from the Ministry will benefit local, community mission work, not Haralson Village. It is our wish that a portion of the proceeds of Haralson Village Event and R.V. Park go to train young adults with vocational training to help with good jobs and help raise and feed their families. All based on this Philosophy: You give a man a fish, you have fed him for a day. But you teach a man how to fish, you’ve fed him for a lifetime. Please and thank you Lord! Remember this was all God’s idea anyway.
